Bone Grafting

Do I Need a Bone Graft Before a Dental Implant?

By Dr. Lina Shahinyan, DDS, MS ·

Implants need a solid foundation. Sometimes that foundation needs rebuilding first.

How we measure

3D cone beam imaging shows bone height, width and density, plus the location of nerves and sinuses.

When grafting is needed

After long-term tooth loss, gum disease or an extraction that left a thin ridge.

The easiest graft

A socket preservation graft placed at the time of extraction prevents most bone loss.
